Live Audio Streaming
Technical guidance & product development for ProWire streaming service
ProWire improves the fan experience at sports events by enabling attendees to listen to live audio from players, the referee, and commentators from their mobile phones, in real-time.
The challenge
We were approached by ProWire when they first had the idea for their live audio streaming service. They had a great business model but lacked the in-house technical expertise to fully execute their vision.
Our process
Initially, we carried out a feasibility study for the project and produced a detailed technical report describing how a very low latency streaming service could work.
ProWire then engaged us to design and build a fully functional prototype of the streaming service, including custom hardware and software.
The results
ProWire carried out successful in-venue trials and client demonstrations and won new business as a result.
We have continued to work with ProWire as they have developed their streaming technology into a fully scalable platform capable of operating in some of the largest venues in the USA and Canada.

The client has a background in building management, and they identified ways to automate various labour-intensive regulatory monitoring requirements. While the client developed a sophisticated front-end software solution in-house, they lacked the skills and bandwidth to develop the remote data-gathering electronics hardware.

Our team stepped in to help fill skills or personnel gaps whenever the client needed it. We designed PCBs, wrote software and provided embedded Linux support.

The client is a large pharmaceutical CDMO with an in-house team of mechanical and industrial design engineers. For their new Smart Auto-Injector project, they needed outside expertise in medical electronics and software development.

Ripcord worked with the client's in-house team, providing ad-hoc electronics consulting during the initial phase of the project as they worked on several novel sensing concepts to enable automated monitoring and logging of drug delivery to the patient.
Following the initial consulting phase, Ripcord was contracted to develop two concepts into “works-like” prototypes, including electronics design and embedded software development, prototyping and test.

Ripcord continued to work with the client for the full length of the project, helping them successfully evaluate, develop and test their preferred concepts. The lead concept was a success and provided valuable new IP for the client.
